👋 Welcome to qMEET!
qMEET helps you find local events, join groups, and meet people who share
your interests — all in one place, and totally free. Create your own groups & events, and
discover new hobbies along the way.
Home is your personal starting point — your invitations, to-do's, and
recommendations. When you want to see what's happening right now near you,
head to the Dashboard.
This tutorial covers the key features. Reopen it anytime from the
📖 button top-right, or More → Tutorials.
📅 Find & create events
Browse events sorted by real distance and filtered by cost, category, and keywords.
Mark the ones you're interested in, hide the ones you're not, and RSVP to help
organizers plan. Open any event's details page to see the location, who's going, an
availability chart, and attendees' shared interests. Create your own — free and unlimited —
and tag it so members can vote on activities.
Go to Events & Groups → Find Events; open Show Filters
to narrow results, block categories, or save reusable Keyword Lists. Traveling? Search
along your route or at your destination(s). Right here on Home, scroll to
Suggested Events for picks that match your interests. Create one at
Events & Groups → Create Event.
👥 Find & create groups
Groups are ongoing communities built around hobbies & interests. Global groups (no
city/state) are great for chatting; local groups are better for planning events & meetups.
Join the ones you like — or start your own. Each group's details page shows its members,
upcoming events, Group Chat, and a snapshot of members' shared interests and cities.
Go to Events & Groups → Find Groups and use Show Filters
to search & filter for groups in your area or at your travel destination(s). Check
Suggested Groups on Home for matches to your interests. Create one at
Events & Groups → Create Group — easy, free, and unlimited.
🤝 Meet people who share your interests
Tag your interests and qMEET surfaces Member Matches — people to connect with and
build new groups, events, and meetups around. Your interests also power the
Suggested Events & Groups on your Home page, and help organizers plan activities
everyone will enjoy — no guessing required.
Go to the Account menu (your name) → My Interests. Our database of
interests & hobbies is huge — search your main ones, then browse & tag as many as
you like (click anything you don't recognize to Google it — you may discover something new).
Then go to People → Member Match to see your matches. They'll grow as more members join.
💬 Chat instantly
Message anyone — no waiting for them to accept. Reach friends & family, or message people at
a place to see who wants to meet up. Chat blends the workflow of email + chat, so
you can manage and prioritize huge volumes of messages without missing a thing. Adjust your
privacy controls, and block or report anyone at any time. (Just don't be creepy or
disrespectful, or you'll quickly be blocked or banned.)
Chat 1-on-1, or within events, groups, and interests. The Chat menu
opens Member Chat; reach Event, Group, and Interest chats from the Dashboard or any
event or group details page.
🦉 Night Owl? Or just bored?
When there's not much to do — day or night — set your status and place to let people
know you're up for something, and form spontaneous meetups with others nearby. Join a
"Night Owls" group to connect with fellow late-nighters.
Go to Dashboard → Where are you? to set your status and/or place, then check
"Where is everyone?" to see what's popular right now. Be careful — bring a friend when you can,
and only meet in public places. Great by day too, for finding others to walk, hike, bike, or
paddleboard with at parks & lakes everyone already goes to.
📣 Invite your friends
qMEET grows only when members actively invite others and stay active. Post a link on social
or share it with all your friends. It's also great for private parties, family get-togethers, even
neighborhood block parties — so invite everyone. qMEET is completely free; do your part and help make
it a success!
Go to Account menu (your name) → Invite a Friend.
🔔 Notifications
For chat push notifications & event reminders, install qMEET as an app (PWA)
and turn notifications on. qMEET is 100% free with no marketing communications — this is purely
for your benefit.
Don't use the App Store/Play Store — just save a shortcut as you normally would, then
select "Install". Accept notifications if prompted, then fine-tune them at
Account menu → Notifications. Long-press the app icon for useful shortcuts.
💡 A few last things
Use the Home page & Dashboard often — they give a quick view of everything going on and
are great jumping-off points (the nav menu in the upper-right works too). Read each page's
Tutorial — just look for the 📖 button in the upper-right, or open
More → Tutorials for the full index. And use the
"page feedback" 💬 icons to quickly share bugs or ideas for the page you're on — or the
Contact Us page, or just chat Paul directly. Please send lots of feedback!
🧭 Getting Around qMEET
A few landmarks worth knowing. Clicking qMEET in the upper-left always brings you back
here — and you can change where it takes you in
Preferences. Anytime we mention the
Account menu, that's the nav menu all the way on the right, the one with your name on it.
📍 Long-press (or double-click) a place pin in the notification bar to see which of
your contacts are checked in there, and what their status is.
You don't need an account to look around — anyone can browse
events and
groups. Joining is free and unlocks the rest:
creating events, chatting, and seeing your matches.
🌱 qMEET Is Brand New — Help It Fill Up
qMEET is new, so there aren’t many members just yet. If you’re here mainly to
meet new people, you’ll need a little patience — and to pitch in.
Fill out your profile, join a few groups & events, post in the
chat rooms, maybe create your own meetup, and keep checking back.
It’s like showing up to a bar or club a little too early — nobody helps the
place fill up by walking in, complaining it’s dead, and leaving 30 seconds later. If
everyone does that, it never gets busy. Stick around.
Meanwhile, there are a zillion local events and groups to browse and
join, so there’s plenty to do today. And the more you invite your friends, the faster
it all comes to life.
